Intellectual Property Lawyer

Intellectual property law is that body of laws that enforce and secure authorized rights to creativities, designs, inventions, and works of art. Intellectual property law works in the same way that the law offers protection for possession of real estate, personal property, and absolute control of intangible assets.

The primary purpose of this law is to incentivize people who create works that benefit the public, by making sure that they benefit from their original works without any fear that they will be defrauded by other people.

There are three aspects of the intellectual property law, and they are patents, trademarks, and copyrights.

  1. Patents

Patents give inventors the right to use their products and protect the invention from being copied, made, used or sold by other people for a specified period.

Patents have three different types, and they are design patents, utility patents, and plant patents. Inventors must apply and receive approval before assuming that their creation has been patented. The patenting process is complex and time-consuming. Therefore, it is best to hire an intellectual property lawyer with the necessary paperwork and obtain the patent you need to secure and protect your invention and earn or make a profit from the invention.

  1. Trademarks

Trademarks protect names, symbols, and slogans used to recognize products and services. The reason behind the trademark is to prevent confusion, and misleading adverts, and assist consumers to differentiate one brand from another.

Strict laws are available to protect intellectual property rights. Therefore, when someone violates your intellectual property rights, you should hire an intellectual property lawyer to help you file for a redness. An experienced lawyer will not sue for damages but also recover royalties that are due to you. If you win the case, the person that violated your right may also be asked to pay your legal fees.

  1. Copyrights

Copyrights protect rights over music, writings, motion pictures, architecture, and original artistic expressions. However, copyrights do not cover ideas, theories, or any creative idea that has not been captured in a fixed or tangible medium. Meanwhile, copyrights give owners the economic rights to earn profit from their work and restrict others doing so without the owner’s permission.

Intellectual property law is very complex, therefore, if you need to file for protection or your right is infringed, contact an intellectual property lawyer to protect your interest. And if you are charged with Intellectual property law offense, contact a lawyer as soon as possible.
